This refreshing Detox Green Cucumber Smoothie is creamy, hydrating, and gives me a little “ahh” moment every time I sip it. I love starting my day with it, especially during summer while cucumbers and pineapples are in season. Plus it helps me feel less bloated (when trying to chase that beach bod feeling).

If you love starting your mornings with quick, healthy, nourishing drinks, try some of my other favorites, like: Ginger Turmeric Shot, Lemon Smoothie, Plum Juice, or Kale Tonic.
Why This Detox Green Cucumber Smoothie Works
- It’s a vegan detox smoothie. Plant-based, simple, dairy-free.
- Most hydrating vegetable (cucumbers are 96% water).
- Think of it as a low calorie green smoothie that doesn’t feel like a diet drink.
- It’s easy on the stomach and makes a pretty good smoothie for digestion.
- Takes less than 5 minutes. No fancy tricks. Just toss and blend.
What Does Detox Really Mean?
To be real - smoothies don't flush out "toxins" from our body - that's what your liver and kidneys are for. A cucumber detox smoothie won’t erase last night’s chips and margaritas, but it will keep you hydrated, give your belly some fiber, and make you feel a little lighter.
The Cleveland Clinic actually backs this up. Most “detox diets” are hype. But fresh foods like cucumbers are always a good call.
Ingredients You’ll Need

Here’s what I throw in when I make this green smoothie with cucumber:
- Cucumber: I like English cucumbers - less bitterness due to their thin skin. If your only option is regualr cucumber, then just make sure to peel it.
- Banana: Makes it creamy. If I want to keep it lower in sugar, I swap with avocado for a nice cucumber avocado smoothie.
- Pineapple: My favorite part. Sweet, tangy, summer vibes. You can totally swap with apple for a cucumber apple smoothie or mango for a cucumber mango smoothie.
- Spinach: I always keep a bag of fresh baby spinach in the fridge. Kale works too if you want a kale cucumber smoothie.
- Soy Milk: I use soy because it’s creamy and naturally contains protein. Almond or oat milk is fine too.
- Lemon Juice: A squeeze brightens everything up. Sometimes I do lime. And if I’m in the mood, I’ll throw in mint for a cucumber mint smoothie.
Oh, and when I know I’ve got a busy morning? I’ll add chia seeds for omegas and a scoop of unflavored protein powder. Keeps me full until lunch.
Allergy-Friendly Swaps
I get a lot of questions about substitutions, so here’s how I usually switch things up:
- Nut-free? Stick with soy, oat, or coconut water.
- Soy-free? Almond, cashew, or oat milk all work fine.
- Banana-free? Use avocado for creaminess or frozen mango for sweetness.
- Citrus-free? Skip the lemon and splash in apple cider vinegar instead.
- Pineapple-free? Apple, pear, or mango keep it fresh and bright.
How to Make a Detox Green Cucumber Smoothie
- Step 1: Start with your liquid and cucumber. Trust me, it blends smoother.
- Step 2: Add spinach, pineapple, banana, and whatever extras you’re feeling.
- Step 3: Blend until it’s silky. No stringy greens, no lumps.
- Step 4: Taste it. Too thick? Add more milk. Not sweet enough? Toss in more pineapple chunks.
- Step 5: Pour it in your serving glass, and enjoy!
Step 5: Pour it in your serving glass, and enjoy! That’s it! Easiest cucumber smoothie recipe ever!

Health Benefits
Here’s why I keep coming back to this one:
- It’s a hydrating cucumber smoothie. Seriously, cucumbers are 96% water.
- Fiber + water = happy digestion. It’s my go-to smoothie for digestion.
- It’s light but filling. A low sugar cucumber detox smoothie that doesn’t feel sad or boring.
- I swear, it makes my skin look better. If you’re chasing that glow, a cucumber smoothie for glowing skin is a good start.
- Bloated? A cucumber smoothie to reduce bloating has been my quick fix.
How to Make a Cucumber Smoothie for Weight Loss
If I’m having this as a light breakfast, here’s how I tweak it:
- Skip banana and use avocado for a low sugar cucumber detox smoothie.
- Stick with unsweetened soy milk or coconut water.
- Add protein powder for a cucumber smoothie with protein.
- Keep it around 12-16 oz.
- Sometimes I’ll have this as a cucumber smoothie for weight loss breakfast, and it actually keeps me full.
A pineapple cucumber smoothie for weight loss is super popular because it feels like a tropical treat. Just remember - it’s not magic. As WebMD says, smoothies help when you pair them with balanced meals.
For light eats, I’ll do this with Tofu Lettuce Wraps or my Spicy Asian Cucumber Salad. Feels fresh and filling without being heavy.

What Goes Well with Cucumber in a Smoothie?
- Tropical fruits like pineapple, mango, watermelon.
- Citrus like lemon or lime (I’ve even done a cucumber lemon smoothie).
- Creamy add-ins like banana or avocado.
- Leafy greens like kale, spinach, celery - great for a cucumber celery smoothie.
- Herbs and spices. Mint, ginger, basil…all good!
If you like bold citrus, try my Lemon Smoothie. Or if you want another detox smoothie option, my Green Detox Smoothie is amazing
Common Mistakes (and Fixes)
- Too bitter? Peel the cucumber. That’s the easiest way to make a cucumber smoothie not bitter.
- Too watery? Use frozen fruit.
- Too thick? Add more liquid.
- Not sweet enough? Extra pineapple or mango.
- Separating? Shake it. Or re-blend.
How to Store a Cucumber Smoothie (Make-Ahead Tips)
- Best to have it fresh within 15 minutes of blend for most flavor.
- Store in the fridge up to 24 hours in a sealed jar. It may separate a bit, just shake or stir before sipping.
- Make freezer packs with cucumber, spinach, and pineapple so mornings are literally grab, dump, and blend.
If you’re into fresh, hydrating juices, try my Kale Tonic or Plum Juice. These are light, and perfect for storing in the fridge.
Can You Freeze Cucumbers for Smoothies?
Yep. Slice them up and stash them in a freezer bag. Frozen cucumbers make a great cucumber shake - extra cold and refreshing without watering it down.

Additional Tips for the Easy Cucumber Smoothie
- Make smoothie packs: Pre-portion cucumber, spinach, and fruit into freezer bags. In the morning, just toss into the blender with milk. Done in under a minute.
- Use a high-speed blender: Cucumbers and greens can go stringy in weaker blenders. Start low, then turn it up high for a silky finish.
- Layer ingredients smartly: Liquid + cucumber first, then greens, then frozen fruit on top. This will keep the blades moving.
- Boost with pantry staples: A spoonful of chia seeds, hemp seeds, or protein powder makes it more filling without extra prep.
- Batch lemon juice: Squeeze fresh lemon into ice cube trays and freeze. Pop one cube into smoothies for instant brightness.

Detox Green Cucumber Smoothie
DESCRIPTION
INGREDIENTS
- 2 cups English cucumber or Persian cucumbers chopped
- 1 whole banana
- 1 cup pineapple chunks frozen or fresh
- 1 cup spinach
- 1 cup soy milk unsweetened
- 2 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
METHOD
- Chop the cucumbers into smaller pieces. Note: Peel off the skin, if using a regular cucumber with thicker skin.
- Place all the ingredients into a blender in following order: soy milk, cucumbers, spinach, pineapple, banana, and lemon juice.
- Blend using a high-speed blender until the smoothie is completely smooth and creamy. Note: If the smoothie is too thick, add a little more soy milk to reach your desired consistency.
- Pour the smoothie into a glass and enjoy immediately.
NOTES
- Use frozen fruit: Frozen fruit helps create a colder, more refreshing smoothie. If you only have fresh pineapple and banana, add a few cubes of ice to chill the smoothie.
- Peel cucumbers for a milder flavor: If you prefer a more neutral taste, peel the cucumbers before adding them to the blender.
- Adjust the consistency: Add more soy milk for a pourable smoothie. Use less soy milk if you want to make a smoothie bowl.
- Ripe bananas: For the sweetest flavor and creamiest texture, use very spotty bananas.
- Wash the greens: Thoroughly wash and check over your spinach to avoid grittiness or potential contamination.

Do you put the entire lemon, skin and all?
Puja Verma says
Hello Mai! No, just the juice of the whole lemon. But I can see how the whole lemon in the recipe card is confusing. I made an edit to use 2 tbsp of freshly squeezed lemon juice which usually comes from one whole lemon for me. I hope that this clarifies it.

I never buy cucumbers, but the health benefits made me want to try the C-Smoothie. I love varieties. First try, I made the basic recipe with avocado instead of banana. I used organic tin pineapple in juice (only). Plus I added a spoonful of spirulina. It's wonderful!!
I'll be exploring some of your options. ie, cucumber and lime - with a spoonful of homemade yoghurt in the milk, and chia seeds.
THANK YOU!

Aww I love this! 🥰 I’m so glad you gave cucumbers a shot — once you start blending them, it’s kind of hard to stop, right? Avocado and spirulina? That’s genius! It turns the smoothie into a creamy, green powerhouse. And your cucumber-lime-yogurt version with chia seeds sounds so refreshing! Thanks for sharing your twist; now I’m craving your combo! 💚
